1. Building Your Community Develop your group community in assigned groups. You will be working in your assigned groups for this project. Good Luck!!! Written by Nicole Ruge

2. Work Day 1~ Review Project Handout and Rubric Create a name for your community. Spend no more then 10 minutes of this step.

3. Day 1 Use Need vs. Want Worksheet to discuss and negotiate what your group will include in your community. Fill out Final Needs & Wants List. Must include: 12 buildings (your choice on what they are) 6 – 8 roads that run both parallel and perpendicular to each other. 2 different types of landscapes In the following area: Housing Recreational Areas Business Area Emergency Providers Meet with your teacher before the end of class.

4. Day 2 Create rough draft of community layout. You will use graph paper & draw to scale. Remember to include all items from Final Needs & Wants Worksheet Must be complete by the end of class.

5. Day 3 & 4 Start working on your 3-D Community 1.Draw a grid on rough draft (bigger than graph paper) 2.Draw a grid on foam board for 3-D (same proportion just a larger scale) 3.Transfer all items from rough draft to 3-D model 4.Complete 3-D Model If you need to make arrangements to work after class you need to see your teacher.

6. Day 5 Discuss Laws for your community. –Review Our Community Laws Brainstorm Worksheet and make changes. Create a poster to display with Your 3-D Community.

7. Day 6 Each student will complete a paper on the community they helped create. –Must be one page paper double spaced. –Use 12 font –See hand out guidelines about what should be included in your paper. Finish at home,before, or afterschool.

8. Day 7 Present Project to class. –The name of your community. –Tell the class about the process of building your community. –Use all Vocabulary words in paper. –What your group included in your community.
