www.eu-datagrid.org 6th EDG conference 2003 – WP11 5 Open day in Barcelona State of the art reports from EDG, DataTAG, CrossGrid Some fundamental technical advancements and innovation announced A survey of the EGEE proposal The point of view of politicians and funding entities: –At the European level –At the Country and Local level (Spain) Industries from EDG –CS and Datamat gave a sincere positive message (with DataMat a little bit more prudent) The European Grid Industry and Research Forum –Now joint with CrossGrid The demonstrations –In past experience they have been evaluated as effective means of dissemination

www.eu-datagrid.org 6th EDG conference 2003 – WP11 6 Open day Good material has been produced, collected (slides, videos, speeches), will enrich web sites, newsletter and will be input to D11.8 Positive messages have been lunched and some new interesting proposals of exploitation discussed (basic, simple usage of DataGrids in real life) Attendance of “external” people scarce (even if this situation has been controlled)

www.eu-datagrid.org 6th EDG conference 2003 – WP11 8 Status of the EU GRID IRF Currently counts 256 subscribers from 34 countries Participation and contributions from Forum members start to be “measurable” (mails, contributions to newsletter) Is it a solid starting point to build up a base of providers/users of Grid technologies?

www.eu-datagrid.org 6th EDG conference 2003 – WP11 9 The Dissemination Testbed The dissemination testbed is now up and running A good example of collaboration within the project (many thanks!) Used for DataGrid tutorials Required for demonstrations Effort in place to made it publicly available via web to introduce newcomers to the world of grid computing. The initial “kernel” of the dissemination testbed is currently hosted at CNR-CED (Italy) but new sites will soon be added.
