1. This was the call that announced there was about to be a whale hunt. “that announced there was about to be a whale hunt” 为关系代词 that 引导的定语从 句,修饰先行词 the call 。从句中用到 “be about to do sth.”
19
Look! It’s going to rain. There is going to be a parents’ meeting tomorrow. What time shall we go there tomorrow? I will / shall go to visit her next week.
20
如: come , go , arrive , leave , move , fly 等。 Mr. Brown is leaving for Beijing tomorrow. I won’t leave here until you come back.
21
They are to come to Guangzhou in November. Are you free tomorrow?
22
2. I had already heard that George didn’t like being kept waiting, so even though I didn’t have the right clothes on, I raced after him.
例如: a. Even though I have to walk all the way, I will get there. b. I can still remember, even though it was so long ago.
24
【拓展】 和 even though 具有同样意思和用法的是 “even if” 。 连词 as though=as if 意为 “ 好 像,似乎,仿佛 ” ,引导方式状语从句。 He behaved as though / as if nothing had happened.
