Warm – Up!! Good Morning! As you walk in, please pick up your calculator and begin working on the warm-up! Use the two way table to help you! 1.How many total people own a car? 2.What is the relative frequency of people that have a sports car and are female to the number of people that have a sports car? Round to the nearest tenth if necessary. 3.What is the relative frequency of people that have a sports car and are male to the number of people that have a sports car? Round to the nearest tenth if necessary.

Frequency Tables The frequency of an interval is the number of data values in that interval. A frequency table groups a set of data values into intervals and shows the frequency for each interval. Intervals do not overlap There cannot be gaps Usually of equal size

Example 1: 1. What is the interval size? 2. Which class marks occur the most? 3. Which class marks occur the least? 4. What percentage of class marks occur within the 36-40 range?

Histograms A histogram is a graph that can display data from a frequency table. Example 3: The data below are the number of hours per week a group of students spent watching television. What is a histogram that represents the data? HoursFrequency 0-56 6-115 12-173 18-231

Histogram vs. Bar Graph -Bars should touch -Bars should never touch -x axis is intervals- x axis is categories -y axis is always the frequency -y axis is the amount in each category -Bars can show trends
