3  Breast feeding is the best feeding for babies.  It provides total immunity for the babies.  It protects the babies from infection.  WHO recommends Exclusive Brest feeding up to 6 months. Breastfeeding to be continued for 6 months along with complementary feeds .It is the cost effective method of decreasing IMR – Infant Mortality Rate.  It reduces the diarrheal diseases and respiratory infections.  Government has given 6 months maternity leave for lactating mothers to augment exclusive breast feeding for 6 month.  It is our duty to propagate this important message to the community by the way of celebrating WBW – World Breast Feeding Week Celebration.  IAP will provide technical information.  Celebrate it during Aug 1 st to &7th

4  Celebrate all 7 days  Daily one School  Rally with School Students  Essay competition to School Students  Valedictory function on the 7 th day  Planning meeting with District officials  Involve IAP & Inner Whell  Lactation management Training for nurses  Celebrate with Teen- Age Day

5  Teenage week is celebrated along with breast feed week.  Adolescent age is vulnerable age for developing bad habits like smoking, alcohol and drugs. Because of the experimenting tendencies there is a chance they might get HIV infection.  During Teenage love is also a common issue.  Teenage children are emotionally unstable and they can’t withstand failure and even they were depressed by low marks in the exams.  They should be trained to with stand stress for which life skill education will be helpful.  To maintain health in adolescent children, we want to teach them what to do and what not to do.

6  Developing good habits,  Preventions of diseases,  Importance of exercise,  Balanced diet,  personal hygiene,  Menstrual hygiene,in girls  Avoidance of stress,  Sweet and pleasant voice method of study  Ability to say ‘no’ to peer pressure  Decision making skills  problem solving skills  Will be taught to the students

7  500 Pediatricians were Trained in Adolescent health Education in Tamil nadu  They are ready to Train the students in +1 or 9 th std at schools on Adolescent health Education in Tamil nadu  Kindly use Rotarians to organize the meeting at School and Train the students  It will be a combined Project of IAP & Rotary where ever possible  August Month of 2012 is declared by IAP TN as Teen-age Month and planed to cover2500 Schools with he help of Rotary & Lions

9  Government allowances given for dyslexia are  1 hr extra time in examination  Exemption from one language  No mark reduction for spelling and grammar mistakes  Can use calculator in math exam.  Scriber may be permitted  If these unfortunate children with learning disability are identified in time with remedial teaching and training and government concession provided to them they will cross +2, degree and even a master degree also.  These children will be very happy and they will come up in life and live happily.

10  500 Pediatricians are Trained in Screening Children with Learning Disability  LD center started at Medical Colleges  Teachers are going to be Trained in Primary screening for Dyslexia at School Level  Salem Krishnagiri & Dharmapuri District Teachers are going to be trained in Dyslexia  Other Districts to be fallowed up in future  Interested Districts can do this Project

11  Adoption of a village to provide basic health facility  conducting women development program to provide knowledge of good parenting  conducting awareness program to inculcate healthy sanitation practices in villages  conducting awareness program on the importance of women education  conducting guidance and counseling sessions to improve the quality of relationship between parents, teachers and children  conducting programs on personal health and hygiene  Good parenting will lead to healthier children both physically and mentally. hence awareness programs to stress the importance of good parenting could be conducted.
