What is its affect on the business? – It’s a single most important innovation affecting business so far in the early twenty-first century – It is creating enormous opportunities for entrepreneurs. Few Examples??? – online hotel reservation – Online railway reservation – Online airway reservation (few have eliminated their offices)

E-business 2 ways that entrepreneurs capitalize on it; – Establish the network, customer and traders gain entry to the new work or market place – One of the traders in this market place and set out your stall to do business such as online ticketing system and online purchases

Types of E-Business B2C – Normal business web based retail activity such as Amazon etc C2B – This is smaller, market place drives transactions; such as buyers bidding for products or service; for example you bid for one particular airline ticket on Priceline.com; and now its turn for airline to decide whether to accept the offer. Auction sales as well online auction. C2C – Consumer auction; where consumer offer things for sale to other consumers; such as amazon, buy&sell, pakwheels.com, ebay etc

Types of E-business B2B – There are more than 750 B2B business in the world – It’s a big business – Buying supplies, checking specifications, getting copies of user manuals; can be done on internet very quickly; – Nike software for selling their products online across the world – This trading is having very efficient supply chain; how???

Types of E-business How??? – Integrated supply chain; – This allows order to placed with suppliers on a JIT basis and eliminates the need to keep large stock – This integrated supply chain allows to establish links to customer’s order; so you are able to minimize stock holding even further. – Dell is pioneer of E-business; it sells $15 million worth of computers from its website EACH DAY. – Its factory in Limerick (ireland) receives order from all over the Europe. What makes it special?....

Types of E-business Fully integrated supply chain – Suppliers orders and deliveries – Get the supply of motherboards, modems, drivers on JIT basis – Supply this to the customer by its extranet – Dell have created a three-way ‘information partnership’ Between – DELL-------- Customer------ suppliers So they improved their efficiency
