IBMC College signed Principles of Excellence executive order 13607 in June 2012 Required to provide Shopping Sheet to all Veterans, Active Duty members, and family members starting with 2013-2014 award year
3
Academic Year vs. Award Year Who does ED consider a family member of Veteran or Active Duty member? How IBMC College identifies students who should receive the Shopping Sheet Where do we put FSEOG on Shopping Sheet? What if we don’t know a student’s EFC prior to enrollment?
4
Shopping Sheet needs to show aid available for the award year Our award letter shows aid available by academic year (multiple class starts throughout the year) IBMC College created comments in the comment section of the Shopping Sheet to explain the difference of award year and academic year based on class start date
5
We felt that the term family member was very vague We met as a team and determined that the term family member is intended for immediate family members
6
Added a question to the admissions application asking if the student is a Veteran, Active Duty member, or a family member Added a query in EdExpress for any students who answered YES to being on Active Duty or being a Veteran on the FAFSA (question 48 & 49) Contact VA School Certifying Official to find out who is receiving VA or TA benefits
7
FSEOG is to be included in Grants from your school Grants from your school is considered campus based aid and Institutional aid
8
Most of our students don’t complete a FAFSA until after they enroll We provide a Shopping Sheet to a student as soon as we know the EFC We recommend students complete a FAFSA before enrolling
