Think! Think!! Think!! Have you heard the word “organic” before? What do you think it means?

Organic Molecules “Organic” means “containing carbon.” Life is dependent on carbon (remember CHNOPS?) so most of the time people use the word “organic” to mean “related to life” or “natural.” In biology and chemistry, organic means a compound containing carbon.

Macromolecules There are four kinds of organic compounds that are important to life. They are huge molecules, containing hundreds of different kinds of atoms bonded together. Carbohydrates Lipids Proteins Nucleic Acids
