God’s Righteous Judgment Compared to the hypocritical judgment (Romans 2:21-23) Need to know what will take place

According To Truth Rightly falls on evildoers –Just –Truth is objective (John 18:38)

According To Truth According to God’s word –Agrees with Christ’s words (John 12:48) –The New Testament is our standard

Nobody Escapes The Judgment Some may not think so –Paul says none shall escape (Romans 2:3) –May escape man’s judgment

Nobody Escapes The Judgment How many will appear in judgment? –Everyone (Romans 14:12) –Everything we have done (Ecclesiastes 11:9) –Judged by what we say (Ecclesiastes 5:2; Matthew 12:34-37)

According To Our Works Many try to explain away –Deeds will be brought into judgment (Romans 2:6) –Lack of activity also (James 4:17)

According To Our Works Job learned God is fair –Comforting to know (Job 34:10-12) –Every work and every secret deed (Ecclesiastes 12:14) –Should cause us to reverence God (1 Peter 1:17)

Two Classes of People Man’s divisions –Racially –By gender –Economically

Two Classes of People Only two at judgment –Those whose works are good (Romans 2:7, 10) –Those who do evil (Romans 2:8, 9) –Where we end up depends on how we live our life

No Respect of Persons Difficult to achieve in our courts –Not difficult for God (Romans 2:11) –Should be thankful

No Respect of Persons A fair judgment –Cannot blame God for overlooking another’s sins –Peter understood (Acts 10:34, 35; 1 Peter 1:17) –Paul also (Ephesians 6:9; Colossians 3:23-25)

Secrets Brought To Light Hidden deeds in this life –Will be come to light (Romans 2:16) –Will happen in a day (Acts 17:30, 31)

Secrets Brought To Light May hide things now, but not then –All things, good or bad (Ecclesiastes 12:14) –Even motives (1 Corinthians 4:1-5) –Give an account (2 Corinthians 5:10)

Why Hasn’t It Happened? Not because God has forgotten –Allowing time for repentance (2 Peter 3:9) –Delaying because of His love for mankind

Why Hasn’t It Happened? Paul’s reasons –Forbearance: “a delay in punishment” –Longsuffering: “patience, slowness in avenging wrongs” –Goodness: “kindness of heart or act”

Conclusion Need a deeper respect for the judgment It will come and we need to be prepared
