Our attitudes are important and influence our motivation. Use positive self-talk, › “ I really want to be successful in school.” › “This will help me reach my goal” Begin to think of what you have done, not what you haven’t done.

Start a portion of the project that day. Consider doing it before you leave campus.

We often say, “I don’t have 5 hours today to do that, I will do it tomorrow.” Make a list of the potential steps. Write each of those steps on a day in your planner. Now you only have a little to do each day.

Decide the type of rewards you like: food, video game, TV show. Provide the reward immediately after completing the task.

Social networks and friends can be distractions. Use social activities as specialized rewards. Study for a couple hours, then go out with your friends.

Create a calendar for the week that shows study times for subjects the same time each week. Display that calendar in a prominent place so you and others can see. The study becomes part of your standard routine, not “extra” time.
