4 Have a reasonable profile picture No kissing, “duckface”, pouting, self-portraits

5  Keep personal arguments to the phone or face to face – Do not break up with someone via Facebook or text messaging.

6  Fill out your profile fully, join relevant groups, update often and be REAL  Show your passions, include professional details and areas of expertise

7  Don’t post embarrassing/ suggestive/ explicit/ nude pictures of yourself or others on FB

10  No swearing, bad grammar, misspelling  Watch your tone  AVOID USING CAPITAL LETTERS  Don’t vent about work/ colleagues/ lecturers  No chain updates  Say things you would say in person

11  No Farmville, Mafia wars etc.

13  Don’t friend someone you don’t know – not everyone using FB is honest

14  If you have important news to share, call family and friends first before putting it on FB

15  Don’t post anything that might hurt a friend’s career or relationship

16  Use FB as a professional networking platform by linking to other applications such as “BranchOut” or “LinkedIn”

17  Apply the same courtesy and respect you would in real life
