3 ‘LEARN, BECONCERNED AND SERVE’ ‘learn, be concerned and serve’. The Community Youth Club (C. Y. C.) is an organization of the Education Department. It is also one of the most popular service clubs in La Salle College. Based on the club’s motto ‘LEARN, BE CONCERNED AND SERVE’, many meaningful activities, such as, tree planting, flag selling and walk for charity, were organized for LaSallians to participate in. More opportunities are provided for LaSallians to ‘learn, be concerned and serve’.

6 Basis of award ‘LEARN, BE CONCERNED AND SERVE’ (I) Basis of award Activities that coincide with the Club’s motto ‘LEARN, BE CONCERNED AND SERVE’ will be considered for point awarding purposes under the scheme. Members are awarded 1 to 4 points for activities participated, depending on the level of involvements in the activities. Activities are classified under the Scheme into four different categories:

7 Category A: (1 point) Category B: (2 points) Category A: (1 point) Participation is limited to the basis level of involvement, such as taking part in visits, training, service projects and civic education campaign or competition. Category B: (2 points) (a)Participation is involved at an administrative or organizational level such as serving an organizer or a committee member of an established activity or service project. e.g. a warden in Country Park Adoption Scheme. (b)This case also applies to self-initiated activities projects or activities where the events are planned and carried out under the member’s initiatives. e.g. make a survey by an individual on black spots of a chosen district and report on findings, conclusions and solutions.

8 Category C: (3 points) Category D: (4 points) Category C: (3 points) For major projects, whether centrally organized or self-initiated, which involve the participation of a significantly large group of members or sometimes all members of the C. Y. C. group, the chief organizer or chairman of the activity will be awarded 3 points to account for the degree of involvements. Category D: (4 points) Under situations where a large scale joint C. Y. C. group /district / territory project is involved, participation in the level of main organizer would merit the award of 4 points.

9 Foundation LevelYellow Badge Green Badge Awards are divided into 4 levels: Foundation Level (Yellow Badge): Members should have earned 4 points. Level 1 (Green Badge): Members should have attained Foundation Level

10 Level 2Orange Badge Level 3Purple Badge Level 2 (Orange Badge): Members should have attained Level 1 and have earned another 8 points. Points awarded should include at least one activity under Category B or Category C or Category D. Level 3 (Purple Badge): - Members should have attained Level 2 and have earned another 12 points. Points award should include at least: - 2 activities under Category B; or - 1 activity under Category C; or - 1 activity under Category D - There should be at least 3 activities or service projects of different natures.

11 1.Body checkup of the elderly organized by the Caritas This activity was decided to organize just as the years before. However, the details would be discussed after a notification letter had been received from the Caritas in October to November.

12 This activity is a campaign which aims at caring for the elderly people who live alone. It was suggested that three areas would be involved in from October to December: ) making of cards for festivals (23/10 - 30/11) ) cleansing of the homes of elderly (30/12 a.m.) ) organizing activities of private elderly home (23/12 p.m.) A training session for general volunteers (11/11 p.m.) and an additional training program for organizing activities in elderly home would also be applied..

13 This would be held during the Christmas Gathering. Followed by the success in the previous year, more experienced was gained and it was believed that this year it would be more successfully organized. For example, class visits could be held before the Christmas Gathering so that more students could support this.We hope that more donations might be received in this year.All the donations will be used for charity purpose.
