COPP Vision and College Goals 2002-2012 (08/03/05) SCHOOL OF COMMUNITY RESOURCES AND DEVELOPMENT SCHOOL OF PUBLIC AFFAIRS SCHOOL OF SOCIAL WORK Center for Community Development and Civil Rights Morrison Institute for Public Policy Center for Nonprofit Leadership and Management Southwest Interdisciplinary Research Center Center for Urban Inquiry Advanced Public Executive Program COPP VISION To establish COPP as a model for rigorous, research-intensive, knowledge-based social and economic advancement in a hyper growth megapolitan region. As part of the New American University, COPP will pursue research that benefits the public good and contributes to the economic, social and cultural vitality and healthy well-being of the community, welcoming students and faculty committed to these goals.

Access and Quality for All Vision Planned College Level Exemplar Projects COPP Vision and College Goals 2002-2012 (08/03/05) Goals University expansion to provide access, ensure quality, and focus on the individual. Expand access to the existing 28 undergraduate and graduate academic degrees and certificates Develop new academic programs to meet the needs of a growing megapolitan area Intensify the academic experience of undergraduate students through participation in research, internships, public service, and living-learning communities Expand continuing professional education opportunities, especially to the downtown Phoenix community Strategically focus on and improve linkages with Phoenix community colleges Develop academic programs with key partners in downtown Phoenix, e.g., the City of Phoenix, the Department of Economic Security, to advance baccalaureate and graduate degree attainment To establish COPP as a model for rigorous, research-intensive, knowledge-based social and economic advancement of others in a hyper growth megapolitan region. As part of the New American University, COPP will pursue research that benefits the public good and contributes to the economic, social and cultural vitality and healthy well-being of the community, welcoming students and faculty committed to these goals. National Comprehensive University by 2012 COPP Vision and College Goals 2002-2012 (08/03/05) Vision Planned College Level Exemplar Projects Goals Become a leading center for research and education in urban governance and hyper growth Become a leading center for research in substance abuse and mental health, particularly in Latino communities Become a leading center for research and education in nonprofit leadership and social enterprise Become a leading center for decision theory and modeling applied to the education of public and social service practitioners Become a leading center for global research, education, and training in urban governance and community well-being. To establish COPP as a model for rigorous, research-intensive, knowledge-based social and economic advancement of others in a hyper growth megapolitan region. As part of the New American University, COPP will pursue research that benefits the public good and contributes to the economic, social and cultural vitality and healthy well-being of the community, welcoming students and faculty committed to these goals. Building regional competitiveness, national distinction and global relevance Kellogg-funded AIM grant to the Center for Nonprofit Leadership and managements NIDA-funded Drug Resistance Strategies project to the Southwest Interdisciplinary Research Center CDC-funded Latino Acculturation and Health Project to the Southwest Interdisciplinary Research Center Project on diabetes in Native American Communities (Center for Community Development and Civil Rights) Program/School of Social Capital IGERT grant in decision informatics for public administration, public policy, and social work graduate students

Enhance our Local Impact and Social Embeddedness COPP Vision and College Goals 2002-2012 (08/03/05) Vision Planned College Level Exemplar Projects Goals Further strengthen ties with city, county and state government, especially in the areas of government innovation and performance Further strengthen ties with local nonprofit organizations, especially in the area of community capacity building and evaluation of impact Further strengthen ties with Latino communities and Native American tribes, especially in the areas of child welfare, substance abuse, and educational attainment Further strengthen ties with business and civic leaders, especially in the area of social and economic impact of hyper growth and change Further strengthen ties with the 100+ existing partners in the downtown Phoenix area where students intern and faculty engage in use-inspired research To establish COPP as a model for rigorous, research-intensive, knowledge-based social and economic advancement of others in a hyper growth megapolitan region.
