2. What is E.coli? E.coli is a bacterium commonly found in the stomach of endotherms (warm blooded animals).

3. What are the symptoms of E.coli? Diarrhea which can be watery and mild to bloody and severe. Abdominal cramping, pain, or tenderness. Nausea and vomiting, in some people.

4. How do you get E.coli? You are most likely to get E.coli when you come in contact with human or animal feces. This can happen when you intake contaminated liquid or food. Un-pasteurized dairy products Undercooked meat

5. How do you prevent E.coli? You can prevent E.coli by washing your hands, not intaking un pasteurized dairy products, and making sure meat is fully cooked.

6. What are the dangers for untreated E.coli? The disease for severe E.coli is called HUS. Hemolytic- uremic syndrome. Kidney Failure Rash Body Systems shutting down These problems may result in death.

7. Susie Thompson She did not attend the fair. She spent time in the goat barn at her house. Her symptoms were diarrhea and stomach cramps. Susie died from kidney failure, her major body systems shutting down, and dehydration. Which is also known as HUS. Susie probably caught E.coli from Donna Jones while at church camp. Donna caught it from her brother who ate homemade ice cream at the fair.

8. Treatments for E.Coli There is no proven cure for E.coli, however there are treatments. One treatment for E.coli is ciprofloxacin. Ciprofloxacin stops the multiplication of bacteria by inhibiting the reproduction and repair of their genetic material (DNA).

9. Where do we think the E.coli came from? Our group believes that the E.coli came from the hamburgers and homemade ice cream. The ice cream could’ve not been pasteurized correctly and the meat could have been under cooked. Most people who ate these two things were infected. Some did not eat these things but were still infected, we believe they might have had traces of animal feces on their hands from the petting zoo and did not wash their hands before eating. Or they possibly came in contact with people or games that were infected.
