3 What is Title I? A Federal Act created in 1965. Its goal is to improve academic achievement of the disadvantaged. This Act ensures that all children have a fair, equal, and significant opportunity to obtain a high-quality education and reach, at a minimum, proficiency on challenging state academic achievement standards and state academic assessments.

4 How do schools qualify for Title I funds? Schools in which approximately 40% or more of their students are eligible for free or reduced-priced lunch qualify for these federal funds. Currently, Campbell serves 89% free and reduced students.

5 How do we utilize our Title I funds? We receive about $ 360,000 annually to afford the following: 1 Parent liaison 3 additional teachers Reduce class sizes and provide more individualized instruction in 4 th grade. Science Lab Teacher –Enriches learning opportunities with hand on activities in Science. Instructional Technology Teacher- Integrates technology into curriculum. Instructional materials Staff development Supplies and materials for the parent resource center Free breakfast to all students everyday Extended Day

6 Title I School Requirements In order to continue to receive funds we must meet the following requirements: Create and implement a Parent/Student Compact and Parental Involvement Policy Provide Parental Rights/Notification of Highly Qualified Teacher Status Conduct Title I Planning and Yearly Meetings Collect/Manage documentation for meetings, activities, and daily schedules of teachers and staff members.

8 Parent Resource Room Offers A Parent Liaison to assist you with building a relationship with Campbell Elementary School Volunteer Opportunities Events for You to engage in the Campbell Elementary Community Interactive games that you can check out and take home to help your child learn different concepts in Reading, Math and Science Academic based Workshops Community Resources Information Computer Services Assistance with school paperwork Open Mon-Fri 8AM-3PM

9 Instructional Technology Role of Instructional Technology Teacher: Collaborate with teachers and plan real-world, standards-based, engaging projects for students to complete Guide students to produce original works to demonstrate their understanding of a topic or standard Teach students to use different types of technology tools, programs, and applications

Focus Area #1: Parent & Community Involvement After-school program through APEC Focus Area #2: Instructional Technology Provide professional learning focused on instructional technology integration with our new Instructional Technology Specialist. Focus Area #3: Student Engagement Provide professional learning focused on differentiated instructional strategies for Campbell teachers.

16 How did we utilize with our Seed Funds? We received about $ 275,000 of Seed Funds to run the Campbell 2.0 program. This grant has covered the following expenses: (1) Instructional Technology Coach New furniture for the Media Center (60) Chairs (9) Tables (8) Bookshelves (5) 65”Samsung Smart Televisions with wall mounts (2) 27” iMac Units with wall mounts Cable and Electrical installation work

18 Role of the School Counselor School counselors have a primary responsibility to ensure that counseling services and the educational program of the school consider the development of every student, including educational, vocational, personal and social development. 20 New Georgia Standards of Excellence Clarification of standards language and terminology ▪(multiple standards grades K-5) Some fluency elements shifted from the phonics standards to the appropriate fluency standard in grades K-3 to maintain vertical alignment ▪(reading foundational standards)

24 What’s the difference? New assessment measure More aligned to national rigor and achievement levels More aligned vertically throughout the grades (Grades 3-12) Coherent, Comprehensive, and Consolidated ▪ Reading & Writing in one assessment ▪ Each grade (3-5) will have a writing component embedded in ELA assessment Criterion-referenced and norm-referenced New performance levels, which have not yet been identified, cannot be compared to scores from previous years Achievement comparison will come form SGPs

25 Online administration will be the primary mode of administration for Georgia Milestones for all grades by 2019. Year 1: minimum of 30% online Year 3: minimum of 80% online Year 5: minimum of 100% online *2015-2016 is Year 2

28 Tested Subjects Utilize Student Growth Percentiles or SGPs Generated based on GA Milestones performance Will be calculated at the state level Non-Tested Subjects Utilize Student Learning Objectives or SLOs Generated based on performance on pre- and post assessment measures Will be calculated at the district level for all state funded courses without a standardized test Assessment Updates: Student Learning Objectives
