2. Maps have important features: Maps have a legend A legend: Is a key to all the symbols used on a map. It is usually a small box on the map that looks like this: mountains lakes

3. Maps also have: A compass rose – A compass rose give directions, it looks like this:

4. Maps need titles A map should always have a title so you know what you are looking at.

5. Globes A round model of the world is called a globe.

6. Map scales A map scale helps us understand the distance of places on a map. This helps us understand how far apart things are on the map.

7. Map of North America North America What county is south of the USA? Mexico What country is north of the USA? Canada

8. Oceans What ocean is to the west of the USA? Pacific Ocean What ocean is to the east of the USA? Atlantic Ocean

9. 2 states are not connected directly to the USA… They are: Alaska Hawaii
