Theoretical background Maslow created his famous hierarchy of needs thinking beyond the details of air, water, food and he laid out five broader layers of needs: Physiological –hunger, thirst, shelter and other bodily needs. Safety –security and protection from physical and emotional harm.

Contd… Social – affection, belongingness focusing with an individual's need for love and affection. Esteem –recognize achievements and provide status to make employees feel appreciated and valued. Self-actualization –provide challenging and meaningful work which enables growth and self-fulfillment.

Company Profile Bharti Airtel is among India’s largest mobile phone and Fixed Network providers. Established on July 07, 1995.Bharti provided fixed-line telephony and broadband services under the Touchtel brand.This branch has 150 permanent employees.This branch has a strong customer base with 1,71,387 broadband & telephone customers.

Product Profile Bharti Enterprises ( Panampally Branch) provides a wide range of services, including fixed – line phone services, long – distance phone service, broadband internet service, telecom hardware and software, and customer interaction services.

Objective of the Study Identify the level of needs with reference to the maslow’s hierarchy of needs among employees of Airtel A secondary purpose of the study was to find the level of identification on needs by classifying the employees under four groups that is age, gender, experience and marital status.

Findings and Conclusion The basic needs, self esteem needs and self actualization needs predominate the other needs among the employees The need for self actualization is more among younger employees The need for belongingness is found to be less among the employees

Contd… When cross tabulated Employees in the age group of 20-29 years have higher basic needs, esteem and self actualization needs compared to other needs across various age groups Unmarried employees have more basic needs, esteem and self actualization needs.Both married and unmarried have the same level of safety and belonging needs

Male employees have higher safety, belonging needs whereas female employees have higher needs on basic, esteem and self actualization needs Employees with less than 2 years of work experience have high level of basic needs and self actualization needs compared to other needs across other work experience groups
