1 Child Labor during the industrial revolution Ryan Santiago Us History

2 It took place in the 18 th and 19 th centuries, the Industrial Revolution that began in Britain in the late 1700s. Most people are in small, rural communities where their daily existences revolved around farming. The Industrial Revolution was one of the biggest turning points in the History. The textile was transformed by the industrialization, and it took more than a century in the United States. The second half of the 19 th century can be described as a time of invention. Children were offered good paying money and rooms to stay in. Seven workers were involved in some type of farming. Introduction

3 In the 19 th century school was usually too expensive to send a child. Sometimes they work for 9 hours a day with one hour break. 11 year boy selling peanuts for the past two years, all go his earnings go to his father and he works 6 hours a day. Early Advocates for children

4 Photographs  Working at a nearby cranberry farm the same year, was also held from school until the harvest was over. Work was so constant that her father even scolded her for pausing.  Boy worked at an oyster plant, many children of his age to shuck oysters for as little as 30 cents a day.
