Right now we are focusing on in LAC Social Development: Analytical work, in particular, we are carrying out a Regional Study on Crime and Violence for the Latin American and the Caribbean Region. We have been using data from: Violence Observatories in different LAC countries, Administrative data (Police and Public Health Sources), as well as victimization and perception surveys. The agenda is becoming a stand alone agenda within the LAC region

Working together with the countries to guarantee the quality of data Looking at indicators that go beyond homicide rates Participation can help with the standardization of the definitions and the quality of data produced in the region in addition to producing analytical work to support policy action

This is why it is important to collaborate with the countries in the region to guarantee the quality and the validity of the data In the near future we would like to collaborate with the countries to strengthen their data collection, in particular working with national observatories of violence bringing both resources and technical cooperation Expand funding to provide technical assistance in data collection

The WB needs to: - E xpand its priorities to include all aspects of public security as part of the development agenda. - Be more rigorous in guiding policies concerning citizen security - Engage in dialogue with the countries to provide viable solutions for citizen security
