The Word of God God’s word is TRUE – “Your word is truth” (John 17:17) – If God says it, He’ll do it (Isa. 55:10-11; II Kings 10:10) Prophecies about Christ fulfilled (Luke 24:44-47) – Application: Every word proves true (Prov. 30:5-6; Ps. 18:30) – He is a shield to those who take refuge in Him – Do not modify them Reward and punishment are equally certain (Josh. 23:14-16; I Kings 8:56)

The Word of God God’s word is POWERFUL – Universe created by God’s word (Gen. 1) Heb. 11:3; Ps. 33:6; Heb. 1:3 – Sword of the Spirit (Heb. 4:12; Acts 2:36-41) – Holds the power of salvation (Rom. 1:16-17) Implanted word is able to save (James 1:21) It keeps working in us (I Thess. 2:13) – Application: Useful for teaching, reproof, correction, training (II Tim. 3:14-17; Acts 20:32) We have to use it!

4. The Word of God God’s word is PERMANENT and COMPLETE – God’s word is not bound! (II Tim. 2:8-9) Man can persecute preachers, but they cannot stop the word (Ps. 119:89) – God’s word remains forever (I Peter 1:22-25) Given new life through the word – eternal life – Application: God’s word is complete (Jude 3) Don’t look for a new gospel (Gal. 1:6-8; II Cor. 3:11)

5. The Word of God Importance of God’s word – Can’t have faith without it (Rom. 10:17) – “It is no empty word for you, but your very life” (Deut. 32:46-47) – If we reject it, we profane Christ’s sacrifice (Heb. 10:26-31)
