To get a basic understanding of pedestrian skills and safety when walking around your neighborhood This is the first step in learning how to get around – learning to use Liftline or the bus can be the next step for those interested.

What would you do if you could get around more independently? ◦ Take walks in your neighborhood? ◦ Go to work? ◦ Meet friends?

Bring your ID and emergency contact info Dress for the weather Bring your cell phone and be sure it is on and charged Do you need to bring any medication? Should you bring money with you? Personal safety – what should you do if someone makes you uncomfortable? What is appropriate conversation with community members? Do not stop in the road!
