Vocab Swastika -the dreaded symbol of Nazi Germany. Bismarck -a heavily armed ship sent to only to attack merchant ships. The Hood -a British ship sent to sink the Bismarck. but failed King George V -another British ship sent to sink the Bismarck and seceded. Prinz Eugen -another German ship to only merchant ships.

Facts The Bismarck was almost a sixth of a mile (823 feet) long. The Bismarck was 120 feet wide, weighed 42,000 tons. The Bismarck sank 650 kilometers (400miles) off the west coast of France. The Bismarck sank on May 27, 1941, 10:40 a.m. 115 of the Bismarck’s crew of 2,400 survived.

The Hood The Hood was a famous British warship, it was launched in 1920 and was named for Lord Samuel Hood. On May 24,1941, the Hood fought against the German ships the Bismarck and the Prinz Eugen with the help of the HMS Prince of Wales. After an initial exchange of gunfire the Hood was struck and sank.
