4 Writing to Explain When you explain, you don't just write information – you give reasons. Advise = What? When? Who? Where? Explain = What? When? Who? Where? How? Why?

5 Writing to Explain To start with, you need to fill the kettle with cold water, otherwise it can boil dry. You should make sure you don’t go over the ‘maximum’ line, so that the kettle doesn’t boil over and burn you. Whilst the kettle boils, add one tea bag to each cup, as well as any sugar that you want. 6 Consider how to answer a writing to explain question: Although writing to explain does not require the interesting imagery of writing to describe, it is not a boring set of facts like writing to inform.
