2 Analogy  An comparison of two different things so you can point out something about how they are similar. The comparison often is done point by point.  Writing a book of poetry, is like dropping a rose petal down the Grand Canyon, and waiting for the echo”.  “Surf is to king, as surfs is to the sun”.

3 Hyperbole  A figurate speech, is the exaggeration, to create an effect, and make it more interesting.  “I will die if he asks me to dance”.  “I am so busy. I am doing like a million things at the same time”.

4 Paradox  Is when you contradict your own ideas in order to point a deeper truth, or to explain a different way of view.  “War is peace”.  “Freedom is slavery”.  “Ignorance is strength”.

5 Simile  The Simile is when you compare two things using the words “like” or “as”.  “Life is like a ice cream. If you eat it and enjoy it,you will finish it all. But if you don’t enjoy it you will still finish it”.  “Life is like a opinion: you pill it off one layer at a time and sometimes you weep”.

6 Metaphor  Is when you make a direct comparison between two unlike things without using the words “like or “as”.  “ I am dead tired”.  “He wore me down”.  “ I am heartbroken”.  “Strong as a ox”.

7 Rhyme  When you are writing a poem, or a song you what for them to rhyme to make sense. Rhyme is when words have the same sounds.  I could not, would not, on a boat. I will not, will not, with a goat. I will not eat them in the rain. I will not eat them on a train. Not in the dark! Not in a tree! Not in a car! You let me be! I do not like them in a box. I do not like them with a fox. I will not eat them in a house. I do not like them with a mouse. I do not like them here or there. I do not like them ANYWHERE!

8 Alliteration  When you have a alliteration is the repetition of the same consonant sounds in line of poetry or prose.  Alliteration is more used to play, to se who can say the words without messing up.  “Alice’s aunt ate apples and acorns around August”.  “Hannah’s home has heat hopefully”.

9 Irony  They are different types of Irony, Verbal irony, a irony situation. This is contrast between what is stated and what is meant. Between what is expected to happen and what actually happens.  “Before I lose my life, I radar died”.  “Sometimes ignoring is goo”.  “The fireman’s house burn down”.  “The child of the swim coach,drowned last night”.

10 Imagery  These are words or phrases that evoke sensations of sight, hearing, touch, smell, or taste.  “I took a walk around the world to ease my troubled mind. I left my body laying somewhere in the sands of time. I watched the world float to the dark side of the moon. I feel there is nothing,I can do”.

11 Onomatopoeia  These are mostly short words, which sound suggests a cool meaning.  “ A long kiss is something you will never forget”  “I love to sniff a good flower”’  “If I say pooff you will disappear”’.

12 Personification  These is when you give human qualities to something that is not human, or that can’t do such thing.  “Oreo: Milks favorite's cookie”.  “Carvel. It’s what happy tastes like”.  “Goldfish.The snack that smiles back”.  “Nothing hugs like huggies ”.

13 Flashback  These is a scene,or event, a memory that happened on the past.  “I walked out of the room, and saw the portrait of my mother in the otherwise empty hallway,* I remembered, years ago, my father would stare mindlessly at it for minutes, sometimes hours, before a bird chirping would awaken him from his trance.* Without warning, a bird chirped, and I immediately tore my eyes away from that portrait”.

14 Foreshadowing  When you imagine how your future will be, when you can predict something that is going to happened, or think how someone can react.  “Beware of the eyes of March”.  “study hard and be prepared for Monday”, this is a example that probably you will have a quiz or be tested on Monday.

15 Protagonist  The main character on a movie, play, book etc.  “HE gives us Dev D, a movie, whose main protagonist, is loosely inspired by the novel Devdas written by Saratchandra Chattopardy.  Will Smith is the protagonist on the movies, Handcook, Robot, The last Men on Heart is not Alone, The pursuit of Happiness,Independence day,

16 Antagonist  The second character, that most of the time is the evil person.  The Wicked Witch of the West, Mr. Potter, Alex Forrest, Phyllis Dietrichson, Regan MaNeil, TheQueen, Count Draculoa, Frank Booth, Cruela de vil, The joker
