Background on Authorware Authorware is a mature, industry defining product used for creating, producing and distributing enterprise-wide elearning courseware. Enterprises with complex training needs and an extended supply chain depend on Authorware as a part of the learning and development infrastructure Demand for the product has dropped steadily for the past several years. Adobe announced the end of development of Authorware on August 3 rd 2007

2005 Adobe Systems Incorporated. All Rights Reserved. Impact and Result We underestimated the impact of our EOD decision on our large enterprise customers. We also underestimated the ongoing need for file format conversion, migration advisement, enablement and support, thus affecting the businesses of the developer community.

We are focused on extending the value of current AW investments, providing enterprise customers and the developer community with a future elearning roadmap and facilitating the enablement required to be successful. Must address current concerns while building a bridge to the next wave of Web 2.0 authoring tools. Announced a 6-point response plan in Nov 2007, with a commitment to update on progress at January 2008 AICC meeting

Step 1- BUSINESS CONTINUITY BUSINESS CONTINUITY We have re-engaged engineering efforts to “extend the tail”, focusing on the AW Player We have contracted with independent consultant Tom King, highly respected member of the elearning authoring and standards community, to advise us going forward.

Step 5 - Enablement ENABLEMENT Provide (Captivate, Flash and Flex) training and templates to help address building new authoring skills Evaluate applications and configure solutions using Adobe products Working with members of the Adobe Training Partners network to help create and distribute training and performance support tools that build developer competencies
