“GOAL ORIENTATION” WRITING FOR TECHNICAL PURPOSE
2
INTRODUCTION Achievement doesn't usually happen by accident, and it's not the result of luck. Instead, it is the culmination of planning and hard work. To get ahead in your career and your life, you need goals and the means to achieve them.
3
The concept of goal orientation (GO) was developed to describe variability in dispositional or situational goal preferences that an individual implicitly sets for him/herself in achievement situations.
4
Goal orientation is the degree to which a person or organization focuses on tasks and the end results of those tasks. Strong goal orientation advocates a focus on the ends that the tasks are made for instead of the tasks themselves and how those ends will affect either the person or the entire company.
5
WHY TO BE GOAL ORIENTED??
7
“Without goals, and plans to reach them, you are like a ship that has set sail with no destination.” It is an excellent thought to keep in mind in terms of how your productivity relates to your destination
8
Simply going with the flow and not placing your emphasis on your goals will slow you down. This may sound absurd but it’s true: You will not accomplish much if you do not focus on accomplishing. When you know where you are going, it is the surest way of knowing that you will get there. You will not accomplish much if you do not focus on accomplishing.
9
“Everyone has dreams and, whether it is to become a world-class athlete or a highly influential academic or just to beat your older brother at chess, they are all achievable.”
10
Think of it like a swimmer who is hell-bent on reaching the other side of the swimming pool without taking a breath. The swimmer will put their head down and just swim, stroke after stroke, faster and faster until their hand touches the end of the pool. The same logic applies to any goal you may have.
12
HOW TO BE GOAL ORIENTED??
13
ANYONE CAN SET GOAL.
15
You will find that if you just take the first step; it is not as hard as some people make it seem. You will become passionate about life again.
16
You must be able to get over the fear of failure and understand that you can achieve what you truly desire.
17
Track your progress. If you don’t know where you are going, you will probably land up some where else.
18
Do not expect instant gratification, If something does not happen when they expect it to; they get upset and end up quitting working towards their goals. Experience is what you get if you don’t get what you wanted.
19
Celebrate your achievements. No matter how big or small your achievement is, celebrate it. People have an inherent need to be acknowledged and appreciated. Start by acknowledging yourself for your successes.
20
When the celebrating is over, think about a new goal. Now that you have your boss's job, what are you going to do with it?
21
Believe in yourself and your dreams.
