Organize thoughts and ideas about our topic before we begin to write. adjectives, verbs and nouns

Focus on the content of the poem not on grammatical errors Draft poem by using graphic organizer used in the prewriting stage.

Look at the prewriting graphic organizer. Select the words that you want to use from the prewriting graphic organizer. Put the words in the corresponding locations.

Complete a graphic organizer as a 4 th grade class collaboration activity We will chose a topic (2 opposing topics) I will write the class words on a graphic organizer on the SMARTBoard or on the overhead.

Now it is your turn You will complete our own diamante poem by completed a graphic organizer. You can select your own topics.

The 4 th grade class will complete a diamante poem. Look at the words from the prewriting graphic organizer and choose words to use in the draft. Then, write the chosen words in the blanks to form a class poem.

As a whole class, review the revision marks. Choose a draft to revise. Then as a whole class, revise the draft together. I will use the ELMO to do this activity.

We will revise their own drafts using the appropriate proofreaders marks.
