6 Elias’ Story Elias: a poor black worker in South Africa. The text tells us about his life and what he did with Nelson Mandela to fight for black people. Black people’s life at that time:

7 1940— 1946— A timeline of Elias’s life. Elias was born. Elias began school. Read the passage quickly and talk about Elias’ life. Fast reading 1948— 1952— 1954— Elias left school. Elias was 12 and met Nelson Mandela. Elias was 14 and encouraged by Mandela.
