1 Vegetation and Climate
In some areas of Mexico, the climate can change a lot in a small area depending on the elevation. The Mexican Plateau is an example. In general, it can be cool to freezing. Even though it is in the tropics, the Valley areas can be quite cool and is an area where many settle. The valleys along the southern coast also have pleasant climates with warm temps and a rainy season to support the forests.

Tropical rain forests provide habitat for jaguars, monkeys, anteaters and a variety of other animals and birds. They also promote a variety of vegetation sources.

Most of southern Mexico is warm and humid, in contrast, Yucatan Peninsula is hot and dry. The main vegetation is scrub forests. Most of northern Mexico is dry with deserts, plateaus and dry grasslands.

5 Desert Life Cougars, coyotes, deer and other desert creatures reside in areas of the desert. You might even find this guy!

6 Natural Resources Oil or petroleum is one of the biggest resources and can be found under the gulf and coastal plains and offshore. Before oil, you could find gold, silver and copper mines – today Mexican mines produce more silver than any other country in the world. Lead, zinc and other minerals are also there.

7 Natural Resources Water is another important resource. The waters that surround Mexico draws many tourists to its beaches and resorts each year. Ironically, water scarcity in some parts of Mexico is a huge problem.
