2 What is a color pop? A color pop, just one of its many names, is taking one object in a photo and adjusting the color so that it stands out against the rest of the photograph – This tutorial will illustrate how to make the background black and white while leaving one item in color Wikipedia.org

3 Making a color pop Rename the background layer “BW” (remember to slow double-click on the title to change the name) Open the photo you intend to use in PhotoShop CS5 Save your PSD file Unlock the background

4 Making a color pop Duplicate the “BW” layer Title this new layer “color” Click the eyeball next to the “BW” layer to hide it for now

5 Making a color pop Using the pen tool, cut out the image you want to remain in color from your “color” layer Do NOT trim it out

6 Making a color pop Turn your “BW” layer back on by clicking the eyeball again Select the “BW” layer Go to adjustments and select “Black and White”

7 Making a color pop Save your PSD file “Save as” a JPG file That’s it!
