ALL ABOUT MRS. BIFULCO 10 th year teaching with Monroe Township Taught 6 years of third grade at Mill Lake School Taught 1 year of basic skills math (6 th, 7 th, and 8 th ) Third year teaching 6 th Grade Math at the Middle School on Team Mosaic

THIS YEAR STUDENTS WILL LEARN: Division Distributive Property Factors and multiples Operations with decimals, fractions, and integers Expressions and equations Ratio and proportional relationships Geometry Statistics

GRADING POLICY Assessment (Tests/Quizzes/Projects) – 70% 1 test = 2 quizzes Class Performance – 10% Effort Compliance Behavior Cooperation Participation

IT IS IMPORTANT TO STUDY! Use your study guide and review any reference documents, classwork, homework, etc. Sign up for the Math Assistance Center (Coming in October) to get extra help! Look on handout for additional studying tips.

GRADING POLICY CONTINUED Homework – 20% GENERAL MATHEMATICS GRADING RUBRIC (for homework) 3 Point Response - shows all complete work (graphs, calculations, tables, pictures…) - answers ALL parts of the question(s) 2 Point Response - shows partial work of the problem(s) - answers most parts of the question(s) 1 Point Response - shows limited to almost no work of the problem(s) 0 Point Response - shows no work or effort Students will earn a 0 for any work that is not turned in on time, with no exceptions.

COMPUTATION Weekly Review Homework/Computation Quizzes 2 problems a night except on Friday when the question is open ended Will not be announced each day – students need to just know that they are part of the homework Computation quiz about every two weeks – will not be announced

BASIC FACTS Please help your child become familiar with their basic addition, subtraction, multiplication, and division facts if they are not already. Calculators will not be permitted

MATH HELP AFTER SCHOOL AT THE MAC CENTER: Will be coming in October. Students can pick up a permission slip in Mrs. Bifulco’s class or parents can access online. A permission slip must be handed in for each session a student will be attending. It is a first come, first serve service that students can utilize. The Math Assistance Center is designed for students to work with a math teacher after school on a specific topic that the he/she would like more practice with or to study for an upcoming assessment. Students will be bussed home.
