Absences The official opening of school each day is 7:50 a.m. Students arriving after 8:00 a.m. will be marked tardy. Every student who is absent from school must present to the principal or their designee a written explanation for the absence within three (3) school days upon the student’s return to school. After six (6) absences/days in a year excused with a parent’s written excuse, the school shall require a physician’s excuse or the absence will be unexcused. Check Outs Buses arrive on campus at 2:15. If you need to check out your child in the afternoon, 2:15 is the latest time or you will be blocked in.

2nd Grade Child Find Direct services for gifted and talented children begin in the 3rd grade through the Gifted and Talented Education (G.A.T.E.) Program. According to the Alabama State Department of Education regulations, all schools must conduct a second grade child find to identify gifted students. Gifted specialists conduct activities throughout the year with all second grade students as part of this process. If you have any questions about this process please call Director of Special Education: Diane Byars 228-3042.
