CCI - Purpose Self-assessment of collaborative efforts between alcohol and other drug (AOD) and child welfare service (CWS) agencies and dependency courts To assist in moving jurisdictions to a new level of collaboration To assist in prioritization of collaborative efforts and changes in practice and policy To self-assess consensus and disagreement on values that underlie collaboration

The Ten Bridges The CCI is organized based on the ten-element framework of collaboration among child welfare, treatment, and the courts Questions in each of the ten areas allow sites to self-assess their progress in building stronger linkages to the other systems and where those linkages are most effective

Screen for Highlights Present highlights, not every single response Consensus: where can we build on agreement? Disagreement: which disagreements are strongest and how will they affect practice and policy changes? Information gaps/don’t knows: where can we build agreement with better information?

The Value of Trend Lines Doing another CCI 12-18 months later identifies areas of progress and improved information flows Some measures may go down as respondents recognize they really don’t do what is being spotlighted, once they understand the question better

Review responses for… Representativeness—who’s missing? How do answers differ by agency? Can those differences start a useful conversation? Level of organization—front-line vs supervisory vs policy

Present Results to Team and Discuss Findings Prioritize Opportunities for Improvement Develop Action Plan Re-Administer in 18 months
