Is unique to Nebraska with its self- assessment process. Is intended to be a component of your district’s School Improvement Process. Is an ongoing collaboration between the Nebraska Department of Education, ESUs, and local school districts. Is a result of federal and state regulations to monitor special education programs and their effectiveness.

Each of you has children with disabilities in your classroom. Each of you is a member of the IEP team to develop and implement goals, accommodations and modifications for students. Each of you along with the Special Education Teacher is responsible for improving the learning of students in your classrooms. Each of you has the responsibility to use ILCD to improve your knowledge and instructional practices.

Administrator(s) Special Education Teacher(s) School Improvement Committee Member General Education Teachers from Elementary, Middle School, High School Parents of a Child with Disabilities from Elementary, Middle School, High School, Related Service Providers such as Speech, Occupational Therapist or Physical Therapist Early Childhood Representatives from Part C (Birth to 3), Planning Region Team Member, Part B (3-5) – Yes, preschoolers do receive services too.

PhasesComponents 1.Planning Create a committee Link to School Improvement Committee Provide copy of ILCD workbook Access ILCD website via portal Review inquiries and components Complete data worksheets, surveys & file review Develop timeline for completion of phases & ILCD workbook 2. Self-Assessment Collect data Data analysis of inquiries and components Identify ‘gaps’ and desired outcomes Rate inquiries 3. Development of Improvement Plan(s) Continued data analysis review Develop action plan(s) related to identified gaps ILCD rating review to be scheduled with your ILCD Steering Committee and Denise Wright 4. Documentation of Outcomes Implement action plan(s) Report ILCD progress to School Improvement Send notification to Denise Wright at completion of ILCD cycle
