Creative Assignment With this assignment, you will get choice as to what you complete Although the choices are radically different, they are all weighted the same and the focus should be on a combination of unique and individual CREATIVITY coupled with academic ACCURACY and depth of thought Please note: it is an independent assignment and very little class time will be devoted to completing it
3
Creative Assignment Your assignment should demonstrate a deeper understanding of the issues explored in Hamlet and should compliment/fit with the text accurately; in other words, part of your mark comes from how well it “fits/enhances” the text, not just “is it cool?” Each of the choices has four components: a rough plan/outline/sketch/layout/chart of your brainstorming ideas an academic written component (a 1 page formally-written analysis proposal of your work and its link to Hamlet) a “creative” component that seeks to push your creative boundaries in areas “unconventional” to English One page, “post-creation”, reflection that communicates how the process went.

Choices 1. Web Design (Instagram/tumblr/twitter page) 2. Drama (write/perform a dramatic monologue) 3. News Research (Graphic Layout) 4. Creative Writing (Rewrite part of the story) 5. Engineering/Design (create belongings) 6. Music Composition (design/record a soundtrack) 7. Art/Painting (draw/paint/sketch) 8. Film (create a documentary)

A rough draft and/or brainstorming template is required Prepare a formally written (3 PEE) proposal, defending/analyzing your choices. Textual references in MLA format are expected. One page, “post-creation”, reflection that communicates how the process went. Note: I have resources on proper format/requirements for a dramatic monologue
7

(ex. a war love story, a soldier doing something controversial, etc.) and present the parallels visually using bristol board or software of your choice (powerpoint, etc.). A brainstorming chart or rough sketch of layout or links is required Prepare a formally written (3 PEE) proposal, defending/analyzing your choices. Textual references in MLA format are expected. One page, “post-creation”, reflection that communicates how the process went.

One page, “post-creation”, reflection that communicates how the process went.

Engineering/Design Imagine going through the private belongings of one of the characters. What are three items that you might find? Create three of these items Rough sketches and/or brainstorming chart is required Prepare a formally written (3 PEE) proposal, defending/analyzing your choices.
