Created by Trey Parker and Matt Stone. The show was a mix of two animated shorts they created together in 1992 and in 1995. South Park debuted on August 13, 1997 and consistently had the highest rating of any cable program.

South Park is about a group of four boys named Stan Marsh, Kyle Broflovski, Eric Cartman, and Kenny McCormic. The boys live in the town of South Park which is portrayed as a white bred mountain town in the Rocky Mountains of central Colorado.

Stan Marsh Portrayed as the everyman of the group. The average kid in a group of mix-ups. Kyle Broflovski Alone in the group because he is the only Jew. Constantly picked on for his religion.

Eric Cartman An anti-Semitic, obese, and racist child. Criticized for his weight. Kenny McCormic From a very poor family. His speech is blocked by his parka, but his friends can understand him.

In 2007 it was included in Time magazines top 100 TV series of all time. Nominated Emmys in 1998, 2000, 2002, 2004, 2005, 2006, 2007, and 2009. The dhow has also won the award for outstanding television program in a 30 minute slot 3 times.

Some famous voices that were used in production: Jay Leno Cheech and Chong Radiohead Jennifer Aniston George Clooney Jerry Seinfeld offered to use his voice in the Thanksgiving episode “Starvin Marvin” but refused after his voice was to be used as turkey #2

South Park has always been criticized by adults, but more so after young children began tuning in. Some schools banned South Park tee shirts, and clothing. Even the creators Parker and Stone commented saying the show was written for mature audiences and should not be viewed by children.
