1 UTC STUDENT-COMMUNITY ENGAGEMENT SGA - GOVERNMENT AND EXTERNAL AFFAIRS COMMITTEE, 2014-2015

2 Background info… As the SGA Government and External Affairs Committee, a part of our mission is to connect UTC students to the city of Chattanooga. We are working with the Benwood Foundation to identify and potentially create opportunities for students to engage the City of Chattanooga and MLK community, specifically. We have prepared a series of questions, and we need your feedback! We will use your responses, along with the responses we get from other student groups, to generate a student engagement report for the Benwood Foundation and Chancellor Angle.

4 QUESTION #1 What type of leadership and personal development opportunities should UTC (Dean of Students Office, Housing, Honors College, etc) provide in order to connect students with the city of Chattanooga?

5 QUESTION # 2 What type of classroom experiences would best help you solve problems in the city of Chattanooga? How can we use Chattanooga as a living-learning lab to help you maximize your academic experience?

6 QUESTION #3 How UTC and the city improve student engagement on MLK Blvd, given that there will be a lot of activity in the area soon?
