Mother: always trying to make the house as clean as possible and drooling all over Carl Ray. Father: always busting Maggie for staying out too late.

4. Summary In this story, Mary Lou’s teacher tells her to write a journal over the summer of her summer for her new teacher. But what is she supposed to write about? Her life was rather dull. Before. But when her cousin, Carl Ray comes and stays, she cant fit her whole summer in one notebook!!! As she finds out Carl Ray’s past, helps her best friend out with getting Carl Ray to ask her to a movie, and finds love, she doesn’t know where to begin! As she is relating her life to the adventures of Odysseus which she is reading about for school, follow Mary Lou as she writes about her exiting summer in Absolutely Normal Chaos, by Sharon Creech.

5. What I thought I think this was a great book. It didn’t talk about boring things, it told of a 13 year olds adventures with boys, cousins, best friends, clubs, and secrets and how they can change your life forever. I think that those things are interesting to middle-scholars. I also think it showed how much a little change can effect your life greatly. Also, I think the journal format made just a little more realistic. Overall, I would suggest this book to anyone looking for a funny yet realistic book.
