Registration Season Registration begins on the first day in August and ends on May 15 following year. Registration must be done online at: www.usahockeyregistration.com You must register as an on ice official (referee) regardless whether you are or will register as a player or coach

Registration Ages USA Hockey has no minimum or maximum ages for officials. Local Associations or Affiliates may have rules regarding age It is recommended regardless of level attained, officials not work games of their own age or higher

Classification Requirements Level 1 Must complete online application. Must attain an Open Book Exam score of 35/50 Must complete an ice session and in class seminar administered by USA Hockey. Must complete USAH screening and safe sport requirements if 18 years of age or older

Classification Requirements “Complete” means that an official has met all the criteria (test & seminars) at the level for which they have applied. “Incomplete” means that an official has filed an application and has not completed all the necessary criteria for attainment of that level. A new official (not registered the previous year) may not officiate until they are “Completely registered” and have card and crest. A returning official (“complete” the previous season) may not officiate after November 30 unless they are “COMPLETELY REGISTERED” for the new season.

Open Book Exam Completed at the Officials page at USAHockey.com –Accessible 24-hours after online Registration –Sign-in using Last Name and USAH Officials Number Strongly recommended that all officials wait until they receive their Rulebook before completing Strongly recommended that all officials wait until they attend their seminar before completing If passing score is missed (35/50), the official may re- take after a seven day waiting period.

Open Book Exam (cont.) Officials who do not receive the minimum score for the appropriate level, will be sent a retake notice. Only one re-take Exam per official is allowed. In the event the official fails the exam twice, they will become “COMPLETELY REGISTERED” at the highest level for which the retake exam score would qualify. (e.g... Level 1=35/50)

Registration Procedures Local Seminar Coordinators will send all seminar materials to National Office in Colorado. When all requirements are complete, Card and Crest are mailed directly from National Office. This could take from 2-4 weeks after completion of classroom seminar Do not call National Office regarding certification process, call or email your local staff.

Game Assignments Registration with the USA Hockey Officiating Program does not guarantee any official any game assignments. Officials are responsible to obtain their own game assignments from local game schedulers as designated in their area. Any Local Assignor who assigns improperly or incompletely registered officials for games that are not within the guidelines set forth, is subject to serious liability as they jeopardizes the insurance coverage of the officials and both teams involved.

Local Association Be sure sure to read each document prior to accepting You MUST submit your SSN to MIHOA MIHOA will provide a 1099 misc income tax form to officials who make more than $600 in a tax year Once you click the submit button, you will be taken to the home page or announcements page of the scheduling web site for MIHOA

First thing that you want to do on the schedule side is set up your rink selection list. Pay attention to red.

Local Association Date Requests are used if you want to participate in the monthly scheduling process It is important that you meet the deadlines for turning in your calendar of date requests for maximum exposure during the scheduling process

Local Association There are 4-6 folks who do the game scheduling during time from when calendars are due until schedules are released to officials. After schedules are released to officials, you have 72 hours to confirm your offered game schedule. During this 72 hours, you will have the option to decline any game offers made to you. Once you have accepted/declined the game offers to you, this becomes your schedule for the month

Local Association Each day has 3 choices to select from Choose the parts of the day that you are available to get a game assignment Please check other calendars (school, teams, activities, etc) when selecting dates When done, click update You may change calendar anytime

Local Association Anytime during the month you may use the “search for games” feature This will show you the games that currently still need an official that you are eligible to work based on your age and USAH officiating certification level. The system is designed to only allow you to request open games no more than 10 days out from today Requests are good for 72 hours after which they must be resubmitted if the game has not been offered Please remove any game requests for games that you can no longer work

Local Association To select a game, click the Y and submit To deselect a game, click the N and submit If you deselect a game, a timer will appear showing the time that must past prior to requesting that game again
