1 Re-use of Excess Soil Excess soil estimate = 195,000 tons Current cost to re-use = $0 Current cost to dispose offsite = $100 per ton Cost avoidance potential = $19.5 million Additional Benefits of Re-use Re-use of landfill materials at the source Site elevation increases to address storm surge concerns Avoidance of 6,800 truck trips needed to dispose 195,000 tons of excess soil will reduce vehicle emissions and on-campus traffic related to "to and from" truck trips Utility Corridor and Roadway Relocation Project
