A Definition of Globalisation  Globalisation describes the process of change that places, people and businesses around the globe are experiencing, because the world is becoming more and more interconnected.  This increasing interdependence is far reaching and involves social, economic, political, technological, cultural and ecological dimensions.

5. When did it begin?  The concept became popular in the 1980s but it is a historic process which began during early trade and exploration. As the speed of communication (sail ships vs. the internet) has increased, so has the rate of globalisation.
