12 Provide recommendations to CI Executive Team regarding IL Advise current and pilot learning initiatives Ensure that learning actions have a common foundation Approve the IL Initiative timeline TASK FORCE

13 Facilitate the IL discussion with senior management and Task Force Keep Task Force and CI staff informed about the IL Initiative Ensure IL Initiative timeline is on track TASK FORCE LEADERS (VPs Fred Boltz and David Hess)

14 Assess IL understanding, needs, experiences, expectations and commitments Develop a IL initiative timeline for FY07 Plan enabling factors for learning (organizational environment, incentives, and technological applications) Research learning models and develop partnerships with experts Develop capacity building in institutional learning and knowledge management Support coordinators of Learning Networks and Global Teams Propose IL strategy and action plan for FY08 IL Director (Andrea Margit)

15 Enabling factors will require more careful attention from leadership and experts. Some members of the Task Force should volunteer to plan and help develop these factors or appoint other CI staff to do so. Individual commitments were not discussed in the Task Force meeting. –Incentives –Learning applications –CI Expertise Inventory –Internal Communications about learning –Capacity building on institutional learning Individual Commitments

16 IDENTIFY TASK FORCE KEY QUESTIONS AND COMMENTS

17 Two key questions will become the focus of the Task Force WHAT DO WE WANT TO LEARN ? HOW CAN WE LEARN ?

18 CI has a number of Learning and Action Networks in place. They deserve to be assessed, adjusted, and pursued. Their focus may be related to technical expertise or programs, such as: KBA Planning, Stewardship, Tourism, Corridor Planning, Outcome Monitoring, Communications, etc. An Institutional Learning Initiative needs to be focused on a theme that is related to CI core strategy: Partnerships; Science; or Human Welfare. The Task Force understand that:

19 Claude: Provide a IL timeline to be approved by Task Force (included in the IL Director action plan) Courtney: Map the existing learning connections, teams and networks in the institution (included in the IL Director action plan) Sun Shan: Provide clear definition of learning networks and assess what and how the staff has been learning since they joined CI (included in the assessment, and capacity building & communication component) The Task Force Comments to be taken into consideration
