Leadership Style #1 Authoritarian (Autocratic) Used when the leader tells the followers what and how they want something done without input from the team This style is used when: The leader has all the information to solve the problem The team is short on time The followers are well motivated Some people think this this style includes yelling, using demeaning language, and threats. That is not authoritarian…it is simply unprofessional! Leadership Style #2 Participative (Democratic) Used when the leader includes one or more of the followers in the decision making process on how and what should get done The leader maintains the final decision, however this style empowers the followers to have input Used when the leader has some of the information and when the followers have some of the information This allows for a well thought out, and overall better decision Used when the leader includes one or more of the followers in the decision making process on how and what should get done The leader maintains the final decision, however this style empowers the followers to have input Used when the leader has some of the information and when the followers have some of the information This allows for a well thought out, and overall better decision

Leadership Style #3 Delegative (Free-Reign) Used when the leader allows the followers to make the decision The leader is still responsible for the decisions made The is a great strategy when the followers are able to assess the situation and determine what needs to be done and how to do it Leaders cannot do everything nor are they good at everything… As a leader you must not be afraid to admit this and must be prepared to delegate tasks to people who are better at them than you!
