1. Why Do We Use Them?

2.  Graphs and charts let us organize data in an easy to read way.  They allow us to make quick comparisons.  There are many types of graphs and charts.

3.  Different types of charts include (but are not limited to):  Bar Graph  Circle Graph  Pictograph  Line Graph  Stem and Leaf Plot  Scatter Plot  Box and Whisker Plot  Frequency Table

4.  Bar graphs are used to compare amounts

5.  Also known as pie graphs or pie charts  Show fractions or percent of an occurrence Calories from Beverage Types of US Children and Adolescents (Ages 2-18)

6.  Uses Pictures to let us compare amounts.

7.  Shows changes in a set of data over time

8.  Breaks numbers into stems and leafs  Allows us to write many numbers in a smaller area  Can be used to compare groups of numbers

9.  Shows data using Tally marks  Can be with single score or intervals
