Monday: 10-26-15 Warm Up: What is needed in order to change a substance from one physical state to another? Answer: In order to change a substance from one physical state to another, you need to either add energy(heat) or take energy(heat) away.

Tuesday: 10-27-15 8 th grade field trip so no warm up today.

Wednesday: 10-28-15 Warm up: What is a substance? Ans: A substance is single kind of matter that is pure, meaning it always has a specific makeup-or composition- and a specific set of properties. Example: table salt, table sugar, baking soda

Thursday: 10/29/15 WU: What is a physical property? Ans: 1: The physical property of matter is the characteristics of a pure substance that can be observed without changing it into another substance. 2: Types of physical properties are physical state, texture, color and flexibility.

Friday: 10/30/15 WU: What is a chemical property? Ans: 1:A chemical property is a characteristic of a pure substance that describes its ability to change into different substances. 2:Ways this can happen: Flammability, ability to react, and creating a new substance with completely new properties.

Thursday: 10/31/13 EQ: How are elements, compounds, and mixtures related? Warm Up: What is an element? Answer: An element is the building block of all matter. It is a pure substance that can not be broken down into any other substance.

Friday: 10-31-14 Warm Up: How do chemical properties differ from physical properties? Answer: Chemical properties cannot be observed just by looking at a substance. The substance must combine with something else to create a new substance.

Friday: 11/1/13 Warm Up: What is an atom? Answer: An atom is the smallest part of all matter. It is the basic particle from which all elements are made.
