Possessive nouns are used to show possession (owning, or having). Possessive nouns are used to show possession (owning, or having).

What may they refer to? Possessive nouns may refer to something we possess, or they may refer to something that is part of us Possessive nouns may refer to something we possess, or they may refer to something that is part of us Ex. Our emotions or bodies. Ex. Our emotions or bodies.

(Singular) The boy's shirt is too small. The word “boy's" is the possessive noun. It tells you that the noun “shirt" belongs to the boy. The boy owns, or possesses the shirt. Add 's to the end of a singular noun to make it possessive.
