ACTIVELY CONTRIBUTE TO SUSTAINABLE DEVELOPMENT: Contributing to infrastructure development and economic growth, increased investment in the minerals and energy sectors in SA, increasing beneficiation of minerals, increasing access to modern energy carriers and reducing the impact of mining and energy activities on the environment and public health. 2. REDRESS PAST IMBALANCES AND BRIDGING THE GAP BETWEEN THE FIRST AND SECOND ECONOMIES: Through promoting broader participation in the minerals and energy sectors, direct intervention in communities, increased BEE and SMME participation and deracialising of and gender equity within the minerals and energy sectors.
