4.  Iodine  Stains carbohydrates in plants bluish/black.  Stains glycogen red. ▪ Where is glycogen only found?  Methylene Blue  Stains acidic cell parts (like nucleus) blue. Use on animal bacteria and blood specimens.

5.  Eosin Y  Stains alkaline cell parts (like cytoplasm) pink.  Use on plants, animals, blood.  Toluidene Blue  Stains acidic parts of cells (like nucleus) dark blue.  Good to show mitosis in plant cells
