How to phrase a goal that you can achieve:

I will….(insert verb/action) ….(insert task)…by …(insert date). Action must be a verb: Write Ring Speak to Contact Email Attend Use a Verb:

I will know this task has been completed when ……………(describe how you know this task has been successfully completed.) e.g.. I have 10 names on my database, have sent out 3 quotes, I have written 3 pages…etc.) Use a Verb:

You cannot say “I will know this task has been completed when Client XYZ calls me back/agrees to my quote/praises me.” Why? Because you can’t control that outcome. It needs to be reframed with: Important: you must control the outcome

“I will know this task has been completed when I have: called the client 3 times sent out 3 quotes uploaded 10 pages to my site I have done something that frightened me today etc. Important: you must control the outcome

Goal Setting: What are your top 3 revenue generating actions today?

People don’t always buy when you want Buying process i.e. travel, cars, web developers, copywriting Copywriting is not important but it can become urgent Important – not time critical but has long- term impact The Universe’s delays are not the Universe’s denials:

Important - enrolling in a course, going to the gym, eating well, spending time with family, keeping up with friends, getting check ups at doctor Urgent – paying a tax debt, catching a plane, getting an ad to the paper, broken bone, sick child, answering the phone People buy my services 5 – 7 years after first contact Important vs Urgent:

If you don’t keep in contact all that time, all that work you put in - waste of time Get the fruit of your labour by being in contact Important vs Urgent:

Get clear about what you want Feel no doubt that you can achieve this E.g. I want to make $200,000 from copywriting this year E.g. I want to make $500 per week from copywriting If you have doubt, it won’t happen – needs to be in the sweet spot – a stretch but believable… Making goals a reality:

Break it down: make some assumptions: Decide on a: per page rate per hourly rate per project rate

By the project: I want to make $750 per week from writing 1 website page = $150 x 5 pages I need to write 5 web pages a week

By the hour: I will charge out at $60 per hour I need to get 12.5 hours of work per week
