To convert to a smaller unit, move the decimal point to the right (tenths, hundrededths, thousandths) or multiply. Example 2L=____ml Answer=2000 Milliliters are smaller than Liters 2x1000 (milli=1 onethousandth) = 2000 OR 2.=2000. 1

To convert to a larger unit, move the decimal point to the left or divide (or multiply by a decimal; that’s easier. Example 2000 mL=_____L Liters are larger than milliliters 2000. mL=______L Remember, milli=1000 so I need to move my decimal three zeros to the left: 2.000 or multiply by.001 (tenths, hundredths, thousandths) 2
